So apparently Open Canvas 3 isn't compatible with Vista (gee, big surprise there). It's a huge blow to my art moral as its been my primary program pretty much ever since it came out years ago. Well, anyways, I'm in the market for a new painting program. (I have photoshop, thank you.) What would you guys recommend looking into? Painter Classic? Illustrator? And how did you get these programs (and don't lie, I know you didn't pay for them. )?
Corel Painter is my main tool (mostly for the brush system), but it has an extreme learning curve compared to Photoshop and is rather unstable (Specifically 11. Holy shit.)
Some other things to look into is ArtRage, ArtWeaver, TwistedBrush(haven't tried it myself, though I hear its good), Sketchbook Pro, Illustrator, etc.
And I get em the same way I get everything else I didn't pay for, P2P/Torrents
I would recommend Painter, its pretty easy to use and mimics traditional paint tools which is pretty cool . Illustrator is made more for vector art work, unless you're looking to dive into that kinda stuff. I've seen some ppl on here picking up SAI paint tool, never used it so I don't know anything about it.
